About Us
The Wycombe Islamic Society, WISE, is a registered charity which was established in 1991 to provide beneficial Islamic knowledge and services to the local community.It is based in High Wycombe, a small town centrally located between two major cities, London and Oxford. High Wycombe itself has a population of around 92,000 of which Muslims constitute approximately 11,000.
WISE is currently made up of a representative mix of the society in which we live. The trustees and participants, all of whom are volunteers, range from students to company directors.
WISE organise a range of activities to meet the diverse need of the local community:
- As well as the spiritual activities, such as daily congregational prayers Centre, WISE offers religious education, 11+ tuition, Arabic classes, and lectures on a variety of topics.
- For those who like to test out their skills and fitness, they can try their chance at volleyball, table tennis, and football. For the ladies, a secure environment is provided at the Wycombe Badminton Centre or Highcrest School.
- There are also Eid parties and trips for the kids (and for the not-so-grown-ups!), food and clothes bazaars for the women, and not to forget the mouth-watering BBQ extravaganza held in the summer.
- The bookworms can peruse the wide selection of material available at the WISE bookshop, and the technically minded can log on to the internet-ready PCs at the WISE centre.
